Throwback Thursdays 7/27

Dope Drops is back to present a new segment we’d like to call Throwback Thursdays. Every Thursday we will have three songs from back in the day, some you may recognize and some you may not. We hope you like this new addition to the site, and be sure to check back every Thursday for more throwback dopeness.

A Tribe Called Quest – Can I Kick It?

“”Can I Kick It?” was the third single from A Tribe Called Quest’s debut album People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. It contains samples of “Walk on the Wild Side” by Lou Reed, “What a Waste” by Ian Dury, “Spinning Wheel” by Dr. Lonnie Smith and “Dance of the Knights” by Sergei Prokofiev. The line “A Tribe Called Quest” is spoken by the British radio DJ Pete Tong.”

Big L – Da Graveyard

Big L’s track “Da Graveyard” is one of my favorite L tracks to this date. The track is featuring Lord Finesse, Microphone Nut, Jay-Z, Party Arty & Grand Daddy I.U. and contains a sample of “Represent” by Showbiz and A.G.

Nate Dogg – Hardest Man In Town

This here is another classic track from Nate Dogg. The “Hardest Man In Town” along with other classics can be found on a compilation album called “Essentials.”
